CINTECX Calendar: October with Miriam López

“A woman’s work in research is like an iceberg: we only see 10%, but the remaining 90% beneath the surface is highly significant.”

I research the development of new biomaterials through biofabrication technologies for tissue engineering.

Research is a noble endeavor that seeks to delve into social problems to provide knowledge and solutions. It is motivating and demands constant renewal, making each project unique.

I have been able to integrate the necessary knowledge from very diverse fields and focus it on specific objectives, helping to consolidate new lines of biomedical research.

We face the challenge of population aging through advances in tissue engineering, aiming to replace current metallic implants with porous biomaterials that promote regeneration of the patient’s own bone tissue, contributing to active aging and the sustainability of the healthcare system.

To young women, I would say: if you’re interested in research, don’t let any opinion or stereotype hold you back. Your ideas are valuable, and in this field you’ll be able to develop them and contribute to society’s progress.
