A fundamental activity for CINTECX is to disseminate knowledge. The Centre runs an annual activities programme for scientific dissemination to encourage and incentivize the coming together of science, technology and innovation, and the general public, improving scientific-technological education and culture.
Education centres
CINTECX organizes an open-doors event each academic year, where pupils from schools and high schools in Galicia can visit the Centre and find out about the 200-odd researchers that work in areas such as renewable energies, energy efficiency, use of natural resources, valorisation of industrial waste, the development and application of techniques for advanced manufacturing and new materials, clean propulsion technologies, or artificial intelligence.
They will be guided around the Centre by research staff to discover the various labs and projects being carried out by our groups. The pupils can take part in several visual and hands-on activities organized by the Centre’s staff, which will allow them to see close up the distinct areas of engineering and the important role they play in progress for society.
The students encounter, among other things, the field of biomedical engineering, biomaterials, and their contribution to improving the quality of life in society. They can see first-hand the use of marine resources for biotechnological and environmental purposes and experience practical experiments in subjects related to chemical combustion reactions.
Businesses, institution, and other groups
CINTECX also opens its doors to businesses and institutions as part of its strategy to approach enterprises. These initiatives contribute to improving the Centre’s brand image in areas of potential interest thanks to its research work, and to create and consolidate the networks of contacts it has with business agents who are interested in future collaboration activities.
G – Night: Galician researchers’ night
Run by the University of Vigo to bring science and society closer together in a fun way. CINTECX participates in this event with various seminars.
In 2022, these included a visit by researchers from the Centre to high schools to bring fluid mechanics closer to the public and encourage learning and interest in this discipline and its applications.
Pint of Science Festival
This festival for scientific diffusion is based on taking science and knowledge to bars to bring science closer to the general public.
In 2023, a researcher from the Centre, José Lorenzo Alonso Gómez, gave a talk called “Chiral Molecules for green H2?”, explaining how the molecules can facilitate the production of green H2.
“Ciencia de ida y vuelta” Science There and Back
Run by the University of Vigo, the aim is to promote the diffusion of the culture of science, technology, and innovation among students, the university community, and the public at large. CINTECX has participated in several conferences and events such as the science fair, “The Science of the Future has a Woman’s Name”. It is held each year in public spaces.
