On Thursday, April 7, 2025, the “New Trends in Energy Processes” seminar was held at CINTECX, presented by the professor and researcher at CINTECX, Ramón Nóvoa. This event featured the participation of prominent experts from Imperial College London in the field of energy, who presented their latest research and advancements.
After Professor Nóvoa’s introduction, the speakers addressed the energy challenges posed by climate change and presented the latest advances in their research, offering innovative proposals capable of providing viable alternatives to new energy needs.
Professor Luca Magri from the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College opened the session with his presentation on “Real-time digital twins and scientific machine learning with applications in thermo-fluid mechanics,” explaining the application of machine learning in fluid mechanics. Next, Dr. Anh Khoa Doan from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands gave his presentation on “Scientific Machine Learning methods for reacting flows: analysis and control.”
Subsequently, Dr. Andrea Giusti from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London discussed the evolution of the aviation industry’s energy needs and how to improve aircraft energy efficiency through innovative strategies in hybrid hydrogen use models.
The seminar concluded with a presentation by Dr. Andrea Nóvoa, also from Imperial College’s Department of Aeronautics, who spoke about digital twins in her talk titled “Inferring unknown unknowns: real-time digital twins for sustainable aviation.”
The CINTECX staff had the opportunity to learn about the latest advances firsthand and interact with the various speakers.
