CINTECX researchers Aida María Díez Sarabia and María Salomé Álvarez Álvarez have been awarded Ramón y Cajal grants for their research in environmental sciences and technologies, and chemical sciences and technologies, respectively, consolidating their future in the field of scientific research in Spain.
These grants encourage the incorporation of outstanding research personnel, promoting their stability in the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System.
At a regional level, the case of Aida Díez Sarabia stands out for being recognized as the youngest Galician researcher to receive the Ramón y Cajal grant in this call, ranking ninth out of the total of 45 grants awarded at a national level.
Díez Sarabia, who began her research career during her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo, has made important contributions to advanced oxidation processes and the electrochemical splitting of water for the generation of green hydrogen in the BIOSUV group at CINTECX, of which she has been a member since 2014. “Thanks to the Ramón y Cajal scholarship, I will be able to continue focusing on these lines of research, with the aim of developing more efficient and sustainable catalysts.” The researcher hopes that her studies will allow for the production of innovative materials that improve the processes of removing pollutants and generating hydrogen, reducing costs and environmental impact. Díez Sarabia highlights the excitement of getting closer to her dream of living off her passion for scientific research thanks to this recognition.
She has recently been on the cover of the newspaper Faro de Vigo for being the youngest Vigo resident to receive this prestigious scholarship.
