CINTECX and EEI held the event Keys to a Research Career: Science Communication and Gender Perspective in Engineering and presented the first edition of the Beatrice Hicks CINTECX–EEI Awards as part of International Women in Engineering Day.

The “CINTECX–AIMEN Women Researchers” exhibition was held at the EEI – Sede Cidade. Xanel Vecino, a CINTECX researcher, and Lorena Freire, Senior Researcher in Sustainable Construction at AIMEN, took part in the opening.

CINTECX and AIMEN continue their commitment to raising the visibility of female role models in science and technology through the travelling exhibition CINTECX–AIMEN Women Researchers, which was on display at the School of Mining and Energy Engineering (EME UVigo) as part of the commemorative events for International Women’s Day (8 March).

Cintecx and Aimen celebrate International Women’s Day with a joint initiative aimed at raising the visibility of female talent in science and technology and encouraging scientific vocations free from stereotypes among university students. Both organisations presented the travelling exhibition Cintecx-Aimen Women Researchers, a project featuring illustrations, photographs, testimonials from 27 women researchers from both centres.

February 11 left a trail of female voices at CINTECX, speaking about science in their own words. The centre expanded its presence across different venues to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a programme combining workshops, exhibitions, immersive experiences and meetings with women researchers.

In 2025, CINTECX held a new edition of the gender awareness campaign CINTECX Open Camera Women and Men in STEM, funded by the Equality Unit. Through this initiative, the center seeks to highlight the personal and professional realities of its research staff, promoting gender equality and work–life balance in the scientific and technological fields.

On June 23, 2025, International Women in Engineering Day, CINTECX held the session “Why Are Women Underrepresented in Engineering?”, a meeting that brought together experts from academia, industry, and gender equality fields to analyze the causes and potential solutions for the low female presence in this professional sector

Five women from the public and private research sectors shared their experiences during the Women Who Lead session, an initiative promoted by CINTECX and the Aimen Technology Center. The aim of the event was to support the continuation of women’s research careers in these fields, providing guidance to help them build successful professional trajectories.

The exhibition Women Researchers at CINTECX, held on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, features images of 12 female scientists who encourage girls and boys to pursue science free of gender stereotypes. This initiative aims to equally promote research and scientific careers in the field of technical sciences.

This guide aims to provide research staff with specific tools and recommendations to improve the quality of their research proposals, promoting a more inclusive approach in the scientific field.

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11, 2024, CINTECX launched the Open Camera initiative to share the experiences of the center’s women researchers with young students, aiming to inspire scientific careers.

To celebrate World Women’s Day (March 8th, 2023), a round table was held on women’s equality in the engineering sphere. There was participation from three female engineers who were trained at our university and who are now successful professionals in different companies. There were also representatives from the teaching and research staff and the Centre’s director.
