The Research Center for Technologies, Energy and Industrial Processes of the University of Vigo, CINTECX, and the AIMEN technology center, based in Porriño, are joining forces to jointly celebrate Women’s Week. It will be this Thursday from 10:00 a.m. in the CINTECX auditorium on a day called Mulleres que lideran, a meeting that seeks to make the role of women scientists visible and promote female leadership in research and technology.
Framed within the Cintecx mentoring program, aimed at guiding and supporting the academic and professional development of young researchers by facilitating the exchange of experiences with more senior profiles, there will be the participation of numerous researchers from both entities who will share their experience in the management and development of innovative projects.
In an event presented by the current director of Cintecx, professor Ángeles Sanroman, the aim is to publicize different examples of women references who inspire future generations of scientists and technologists, hence the initiative is mainly aimed at predoctoral research staff, TFM and TFG students, as well as active people interested in learning more about women’s leadership in the scientific-technological field.
Aida Díez and Concepción Paz, two leading women at CINTECX
From Cintecx, the researchers Aida Díez Sarabia and the previous director of the center, Concepción Paz Penín, distinguished in 2023 with the María Josefa Wonenburger award, will act as leading figures. Ramón y Cajal researcher and member of the Bioengineering and Sustainable Processes group, Biosuv, Aida Díaz will share her experience as head of the AXA Fellowship project on hydrogen production from agro-industrial waste, as well as winner of two editions of the CINTECX Challenge competitive call in the field of industrial technologies.
In the case of Concepción Paz Penín, professor in the area of Fluid Mechanics, she carries out her research activity within the Energy Technology Group, GTE, where she has been principal researcher in more than ten projects of international, national and regional competitive calls and has led more than forty research contracts with companies and/or public entities. On this occasion, she will focus her talk on sharing her experience and leadership in coordinating research projects with companies and research centers.
Afra María Pertusa, Lourdes Blanco and Luz Herrero, at AIMEN
Aimen will feature three leading women: Afra María Pertusa, Lourdes Blanco and Luz Herrero. The first to speak will be Afra María Pertusa Llopis, junior researcher in Advanced Robotics Technologies and Applications, and Lourdes Blanco Salgado, senior researcher in Advanced Composites Technologies. Together, they will address the evolution of research in these areas and the challenges of coordinating projects at different professional stages.
For her part, Luz Herrero Castilla, coordinator of Environmental Technologies, will present the trajectory of two decades of advances in environmental technologies and the challenges encountered in her career as a researcher and coordinator.
To participate in both the Mentoring Program and the Women Who Lead conference, it is necessary to sing up before March 11th.
