CINTECX Calendar: December with Raquel Pérez

“We are 50% of the population, our vision is essential to guide research toward a more sustainable future.”

I research the optimization of renewable thermal energy systems and their application to improving energy efficiency in buildings.

My passion for engineering comes from the possibility of offering practical and innovative solutions to social challenges. As a mining and energy engineer, it is motivating to work to protect the environment and promote the sustainable use of resources.

Multidisciplinarity is something that has always marked my career, combining experimental and field work with numerical models, offering a global vision of the problems studied.

My work in the field of energy efficiency in buildings and the optimization of domestic combustion systems allows me to contribute directly to reducing the ecological footprint, a key aspect in the current energy and environmental context.

To young women I would say that research in engineering offers a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, where there is always something new to learn and discover. It is a discipline that allows you to combine creativity, innovation, and a strong purpose of making the world a better place.
