Throughout the visit, the participants toured different areas of the centre and had the opportunity to experiment with scientific and technological phenomena alongside CINTECX researchers.

Through various workshops such as The Green Hydrogen Adventure, led by Marta Pazos Currás, a researcher from the BIOSUV group, participants learned how the electrolysis process works to separate hydrogen and oxygen using solar energy. This allowed them to discover the potential of this energy carrier as a sustainable alternative for the future.

Science also revealed its most spectacular side in Dracarys, a workshop led by researchers David Rodiño and César Álvarez from the GTE group, where participants were able to observe and understand different combustion processes through hands-on experiments.

Meanwhile, Félix Quintero, a researcher from the LASERON group, helped answer one of science’s most common questions: Why is the sky blue? Through simple and visual demonstrations, attendees discovered how light interacts with the atmosphere and the physical phenomena that explain the colour of the sky.

In addition, researchers Teresa Rivas, María Pazo and Laura Andrés from the GESSMIN group delivered the Minerals Mini-Workshop, where the boys and girls learned about some of the minerals found in everyday objects and devices, such as mobile phones, and gained an understanding of the importance of these materials in today’s technologies.

The visit has become one of the most anticipated events in the Campus Camp programme and marks the second consecutive year that CINTECX has opened its facilities to participants in this summer initiative. The programme introduces young people to research activities carried out in fields such as energy, materials, optics and industrial processes. Through this initiative, visitors can gain first-hand knowledge of what scientific work involves and the role research plays in developing technologies and solutions for society.

These activities are co-funded by European Funds within the framework of the Feder Galicia 2021–2027 Operational Programme.
