Through the participation of the research centres atlanTTic, CIM and Cintecx, and with the support of the R&D Office, UVigo is showcasing at Navalia examples of applied research and collaborative projects that directly address the needs of industry, especially in areas related to digital transformation, sustainability and energy efficiency.

Navalia is once again consolidating its position as one of the main European events in the naval and maritime fields, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors and international delegations and turning Vigo into a strategic meeting point for building alliances, business opportunities and international cooperation projects. In this context, the presence of the University of Vigo seeks to strengthen the connection between research and industry, promoting knowledge transfer and contributing to the development of a more innovative, competitive and sustainable naval sector.

Technological solutions for a more competitive and sustainable naval sector

The UVigo stand at Navalia (3D10) brings together initiatives focused on the development of advanced technologies capable of driving the modernisation of the maritime‑industrial sector, including applications based on artificial intelligence, data analytics, advanced connectivity, intelligent monitoring systems and digital tools aimed at process optimisation and safety.

In this field, the Research Centre for Technologies, Energy and Industrial Processes (CINTECX) presents itself at Navalia as a key technological partner in the transfer of knowledge to the productive sector, highlighting its capabilities in areas essential for the future of the naval industry, such as marine renewable energies and power electronics, new decarbonised propulsion solutions and sustainable marine fuels, geotechnologies applied to the maritime environment, multiphysics modelling and simulation, digital twins and artificial intelligence. The centre is also advancing sustainable solutions for effluent treatment and valorisation, as well as laser surface treatment techniques and corrosion studies, and it also stands out for its participation in the European project Marpower, focused on the decarbonisation of maritime transport through an energy conversion system based on gas turbines powered by net‑zero‑emission fuels such as green methane, hydrogen or ammonia.

For its part, the Telecommunications Technologies Research Centre (atlanTTic) presents capabilities aimed at the digital transformation of the naval and maritime sector, developing advanced solutions in communications, connectivity, cybersecurity and intelligent systems applied to vessels and port infrastructures. Its lines of work include technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G and 6G, digital twins and advanced data analytics to improve operational efficiency and maritime safety. It also stands out for its pioneering research in underwater noise and marine acoustic monitoring, with AI‑based tools such as ShipsEar, which has become an international benchmark used by hundreds of groups and European projects. Another of atlanTTic’s key contributions is the development of the M3 electromagnetic simulation software, created by the Antennas, Radar and Optical Communications Group and considered one of the most advanced electromagnetic analysis codes in the world. It has achieved the world record in computational electromagnetics and has been recognised with international awards such as the European Union PRACE Award and the Intel Itanium Innovation Award.

Meanwhile, the Marine Research Centre (CIM) is presenting at Navalia its potential as a scientific‑technological partner of reference for the naval and maritime sector, with capabilities that include unique infrastructures such as the CIM UVigo oceanographic vessel, the first professional vessel built in Spain with plug‑in hybrid propulsion; the modelling of fluid dynamics and the analysis of its impact on maritime infrastructures; the design, efficiency and durability of offshore wind farms; coastal management and restoration through nature‑based solutions; and the development of innovative tools for monitoring, managing and protecting against marine pollution. CIM’s participation will also include on Wednesday a demonstration of a remote underwater operation system, with a real‑time connection to an unmanned underwater vehicle (ROV) operating at sea through a 5G network and linked to the centre’s experimental marine research platform located in the Ría de Aldán.

The atlanTTic, CIM and Cintecx research centres are taking part in this new edition of the fair

[93

post-263326","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-duvi-en
["GET
