Students can participate in various activities that allow them to become interested in the different fields of engineering and its important role to the progress of society.--><\/p>\n<p><!--M\u00e1s de un centenar de alumnos y alumnas de distintos colegios e institutos, as\u00ed como un grupo de adultos de distintos perfiles, pudieron conocer hasta la fecha las instalaciones del Cintecx y los proyectos que est\u00e1n llevando a cabo nuestros grupos de investigaci\u00f3n. El alumnado pudo participar en diversas actividades que les permiten acercarse a los distintos \u00e1mbitos de la ingenier\u00eda y a su importante papel para el avance de la sociedad.--><\/p>\n<p><!--n febrero de 2022 comenzaron las jornadas de puertas abiertas del Cintecx correspondientes al a\u00f1o 2022, que se organizan al amparo del programa Divulgando Ciencia Singular, y que permiten conocer cada a\u00f1o a cientos de alumnos de colegios e institutos gallegos los diferentes laboratorios y proyectos que est\u00e1n llevando a cabo nuestros grupos de investigaci\u00f3n. sociedad.--><\/p>\n<p><!--En noviembre de 2022 tuvo lugar una nueva jornada de puertas abiertas en la que con el lema \"CINTECX para todos\" desde j\u00f3venes estudiantes de bachillerato tecnol\u00f3gico hasta alumnos del programa de mayores y otros colectivos de mayores pudieron conocer de primera mano la actividad investigadora que Cintecx realiza en sus seis \u00e1reas de investigaci\u00f3n.--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-block graylight\">\n<h3><strong>Young technological baccalaureate students, students from the senior program and other senior groups participate in a new open day \u2013 November 15, 2022<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With the motto &#8220;CINTECX for everyone&#8221;, a new open day was held in which from young technological baccalaureate students from the Beade, Carlos Casares and Castro de Vigo Secondary Education Institutes, to students from the seniors and Other groups of older people were able to learn first-hand about the research activity that Cintecx carries out in its six research areas: Electronics and automation, manufacturing and materials, energy, transportation, biomedical engineering, and sustainability and natural students of the senior program and other senior groups were able to enjoy a guided tour in which they got to know the different laboratories and facilities of the center and the activities carried out alternative routes were prepared through the center&#8217;s facilities. Each group was assigned one of the routes and given a treasure hunt map. They had to go looking for each of the laboratories\/facilities that were indicated on the map, where the researchers from the center were waiting for them to explain different projects and activities and propose different tests that they had to pass in order to continue advancing in the treasure hunt. Once the tour was completed, a final kahoot test awaited them to verify the knowledge acquired during the visit and thus finally obtain the sought-after treasure.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Route 1 <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On this route, the students had to carry out and pass the following activities and tests.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-240417 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"913\" height=\"644\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-1.png 913w, https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-1-300x212.png 300w, https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-1-768x542.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 913px) 100vw, 913px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> Laser material processing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>Guided by the researchers F\u00e9lix Quintero and Ana Vilas, in this activity the students were able to discover the treatment of materials with lasers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_077.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Corrosion: a problem, a solution and an opportunity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_003.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researcher Gloria Pena proposed an experience based on corrosion and its use. With simple experiences and electrochemical methods, students were able to visualize anodic and cathodic reactions and classify metals based on their electrochemical potential, among other activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Biosurfactants: New Biodegradable Compounds<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researchers Xanel Vecino, Andrea Mart\u00ednez and Alejandro spoke to the students about surfactants, focusing on biosurfactants, especially those obtained from corn washing liquor, a residue from the agri-food industry, and its various applications at the national level industrial.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_104_biosurfanctantes.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> Machinery assembly <\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_144_maquinaria.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researchers Abraham Segade and Enrique Casarejos carried out a brief presentation\/discussion with the students on how the analysis of machinery is faced today. As an example of a machine, they were explained how a manual jigsaw works, showing a 3D of its construction and the components it forms. The students were able to see the 3D assembly of a jigsaw and its components, having to assemble a jigsaw themselves and verify that all the components fit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mixed Reality<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The activity prepared by the researchers Mercedes Solla, Jes\u00fas Balado, Enrique Bauz\u00e1 and \u00c1lex Alonso began with an explanation about mixed reality and its difference with virtual reality. It also showed the most used applications today and in research on the HoloLens 2 glasses in civil engineering, architecture, design, and education. Students were able to participate in an interactive experience with glasses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_201_realidad_mixta.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Dracarys<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_265_dracarys.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researchers Ana Larra\u00f1aga, Raquel P\u00e9rez and Juan Jes\u00fas Rico carried out an experimental experience in which they explained what combustion is and carried out a flame propagation experiment that they also used to complete the explanation of the different types of flame and the concept of energy activation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Final Activity: Kahoot<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>\nAs a final test, the students participated in a Kahoot contest to test their knowledge. They had to answer a series of questions related to the activities carried out. The winners obtained the treasure, a special prize, although there were gifts and surprises for everyone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_281_final.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Route 2 <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On this route the students had to carry out and pass these other activities and tests.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-240420 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"909\" height=\"642\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-2.png 909w, https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-2-300x212.png 300w, https:\/\/cintecx.uvigo.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Ruta-2-768x542.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 909px) 100vw, 909px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Biomaterials: from the laboratory to the clinic<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>Laura Gonz\u00e1lez brought the students closer to the history and use of biomaterials in an interactive way, being able to manipulate the devices and accessories developed by the group in situ.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_014_bioimateriales.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Remediation of contaminated water<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_053_remediacion.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researchers Aida D\u00edez, Marta Pazos and Silvia Escudero introduced the students to the remediation processes for contaminated water (adsorption, Fenton process, etc.). Specifically, he told them about effluents contaminated with dyes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> Machine vision for mining<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>Guided by the researchers Iago Pozo, Xurxo Rigueira and Mar\u00eda Pazo, the students carried out a mineral recognition gymkhana, where the participants relied on the use of artificial vision tools to identify ten minerals with different characteristics, their chemical formulation and most common uses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_150_vision.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Reverse engineering<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_244_ing_inversa.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>The researchers Gabriel Fontela and Carlos Rivero showed the students how the 3D scanner works with different examples and practical activities.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Asynchronous motor, synchronous generator and rectifier test bench<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>In this activity, Alejandro Yepes, showed the students tests with a test bench that has different devices. A drive connected to the electrical network allows to control a three-phase asynchronous motor by means of V\/f control.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_226_motor.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Infrared thermography<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cintecx_191_termografia.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>In this activity, the researchers Miguel Mart\u00ednez and Mois\u00e9s Cordeiro introduced the students to the impact of thermographic analysis focused on energy efficiency to then explain infrared radiation and the theory of thermography. The activity ended with practical examples with the thermographic camera.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Final Activity: Kahoot<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-6\">\n<p>As in route 1, the students participated in a Kahoot contest to test the knowledge they acquired along their route and thus be able to finally obtain the intelligence: Once upon a time a world of data\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The researcher Jesus Rico explains to them in an interactive way the application of this new technologies to the world of engineering. In this case, they had to solve an artificial vision problem and learned the importance of the data compilation, development their problem \u2013solving skills and imagination.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mechanical and mechatronic design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Cintecx auditorium, students were able to fully immerse themselves in the mechanical and mechatronic design experiences proposed by the researchers \u00c1ngel Vil\u00e1n, Gabriel Fontenla and Carlos Riveiro, who presented their projects such as the Xatcobeo satellite, the TitanRob submarine arm, the Demowave for harnessing tidal energy, artificial intelligence robots, early detection of forest fires, etc. As a surprise, there was time to develop interactive activities related to mechanics, in which the students tested their knowledge about the functioning of the reality around them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laboratory activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In one of the center\u00b4s laboratories, led by researchers Iago Pozo, Mar\u00eda Pazo and Xurxo Rigueira, the students in groups analyze in more detail the latest techniques used to extract dyes, going through laser and biological techniques, without forgetting the need to respect our built heritage.
