SUMMARY:Seminar: Advancements in AI and Sensor Technologies for Infrastructure Monitoring and Optimization
DESCRIPTION:On October 2nd\, researcher Zhouyan Qiu\, Assistant Professor at the School of Robotics\, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China\, will deliver the seminar: \nAdvancements in AI and Sensor Technologies for Infrastructure Monitoring and Optimization in Urban and Indoor Environments \nDate: October 2\nTime: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM\nLocation: CINTECX Auditorium \nOverview: \n\nCompression of 3D Urban DataUse of compressive sensing techniques to compress 3D point clouds in urban environments\, enabling applications such as city planning\, disaster response\, and structural assessment—even in bandwidth-constrained systems.\nAI-Based Super-Resolution for Visual InspectionsApplication of deep neural networks to enhance the resolution of RGB and depth images in indoor settings\, improving the accuracy of defect detection and infrastructure analysis.\nFusion of Thermal Imaging and 3D DataIntegration of thermal images with point clouds to assess wall temperature uniformity\, identifying energy inefficiencies and guiding improvements in insulation and sustainability.\nAutonomous Robotic System for Structural MonitoringDevelopment of a robot combining SLAM\, AI-based detection\, and large language models to monitor cracks in real time\, automating preventive maintenance and extending structural lifespan.\nOverall ImpactThese technologies demonstrate how AI and sensor integration can tackle key infrastructure challenges: data overload\, computational demands\, proactive maintenance\, and energy efficiency.\n\nRegistration open until capacity is reached via the following form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/1mHBmp5mNm
