DESCRIPTION:El Centro de Investigación en Tecnologías\, Energía y Procesos Industriales (CINTECX)\, en colaboración con la Escuela de Ingeniería Industrial (EEI) de la Universidade de Vigo\, convoca la I Edición de los Premios Beatrice Hicks CINTECX–EEI\, en el marco de la conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Mujer en la Ingeniería (23 de junio). \nEl premio consta de tres categorías: alumnado de grado y máster\, predoctoral y posdoctoral. \nEstos premios nacen inspirados en la ingeniera química estadounidense Beatrice Hicks\, primera presidenta de la Sociedad de Mujeres Ingenieras. En una época donde estudiar una carrera en el campo de la ingeniería se consideraba inapropiado para las mujeres\, Hicks ocupó variedad de posiciones de liderazgo\, convirtiéndose en la dueña de una empresa de ingeniería y desarrollando un indicador de densidad de gas utilizado en el programa espacial de EE. Durante la visita\, el profesor ofrecerá la charla: \nProbability and statistics\, computational tools and engineering at the faculty of civil Engineering of the TU Delft \nIn this talk Professor Oswaldo Morales Nápoles will briefly introduce Gaussian Copula-based Bayesian Networks\, Cooke’s method for structured Expert Judgment and vine-copula modelling. Their computational tools PyBanshee\, Anduryl\, Matlatzinca and Chimera will also be introduced. DESCRIPTION:CINTECX is relaunching the Mentoring Programme\, developed with the aim of offering academic and professional guidance to predoctoral research staff who are carrying out their thesis at the centre\, as well as to those who have completed their PhD within the last two years. This programme includes a variety of both training and mentoring activities. \nThe inaugural session will take place on June 18 with the event “Keys to a Research Career: Scientific Outreach and Gender Perspective in Engineering”\, jointly organised by CINTECX and the School of Industrial Engineering (EEI)\, in commemoration of International Women in Engineering Day. \nDuring the session\, we will have expert speakers who will address relevant topics such as: \n\nThe importance of outreach in a research career.\nTools and best practices for communicating your research.\nFirst-hand experiences: engaging with society and outreach in European projects.\n\nThere will also be a round table: “Scientific Outreach and Gender Perspective in Engineering”\, where different researchers and expert profiles from both centres will share their experience\, answer key questions\, and open the discussion to attendees. \nFramed within International Women in Engineering Day (23J)\, this event will also present the 1st Edition of the Beatrice Hicks Awards CINTECX-EEI\, aimed at highlighting the role of figures who have marked milestones and paved the way in the technological–industrial field. \n📍 Location: EEI – Campus Site (Vigo) (to be confirmed) \n⏰ Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm \n👉 Open access. DESCRIPTION:On March 25 at 11:00 a.m.\, CINTECX will launch the project “Green Alert: Save Your School with the CINTECX Mission”\, an initiative developed within the framework of the 2024 Call for the Promotion of Scientific Culture\, funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). \n“Green Alert” is an educational proposal that combines an Escape Room–style video game with in‑person activities at the CINTECX facilities\, with the aim of bringing students closer to key areas such as sustainability\, renewable energies\, energy efficiency\, and the circular economy. Through this immersive experience\, the project seeks to promote active learning\, experimentation\, and direct contact with the scientific research carried out at CINTECX. \nProvisional programme: \n \n \nThe event will feature the participation of collaborating associations and companies such as Down Galicia and Vigo\, the Roma Secretariat Foundation\, and the Galician Association for Scientific Outreach – Divulgacción – among others.
